Temp to Hire Accountant in west Loop of Chicago

Our client, a well-established 45-physician practice with a CBO in the West Loop, has an immediate need for an accountant with a minimum of 4-5 years of general ledger experience.

Overall Function: Maintains financial and business transactions, applying accounting principles that include work that is analytical, evaluative, and advisory in nature and that requires an understanding of both accounting theory and practice.  Assists in the preparation and distribution of financial statements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Prepares general ledger entries and appropriate reconciliations for month-end, quarterly, and year-end closing.
• Documents financial transactions by entering account information.
• Summarizes current financial status by collecting information; preparing profit and loss statement, and other reports.
• Reconciles financial discrepancies by collecting and analyzing account information.
• Maintains financial security by following internal controls.
• Complies with federal, state, and local financial legal requirements by enforcing adherence to requirements, and advising management on needed actions.
• Bank reconciliations.
• Summarizes payroll for journal entry and reviews payroll before it is processed.
• Maintains monthly/yearly accruals for PTO: calculation, reconciliation and for analysis.
• Tracks and submits data for H S A contributions to employee accounts
• Maintains monthly accruals for 401K, profit sharing, and Cash Balance Plan, calculates and tracks all employee 401K data and contributions.
• Provides the monthly close and reports; and periodically completes inventory reconciliations.
• Maintains record of lease accounting

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree required. Minimum of 4 years of accounting experience.
