Our client, that provides physician management services on behalf of the U. of IL Physician Group, is seeking to hire a Director of Billing & Collections. This position, which reports to the COO, is responsible for all billing and collection activities associated with payer and patient accounts. This Director is responsible for optimizing reimbursement by ensuring the accurate and timely submittal of claims and establishing the metrics for each program. This highly visible position requires a leader with the ability to prioritize, plan, and direct the dept. as well as form strong collaborative relationships with colleagues.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Coordination and management of the day-to-day functions of the Billing and Collections teams.
- Drive operational excellence by implementing process improvements for the B&C teams, specifically in the area of claims processing and denial management.
- Define & execute best practice strategies to manage aged receivables and optimize collection activities.
- Establish productive relationships w/key contacts within the health plans and contracted institutions.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state and local legal requirements.
- Develop, approve and monitor operational policies and procedures to ensure they meet objectives.
- Establish and maintain productive relationships with key contacts at client representatives.
- Partner with the COO to shape the billing and collection strategy.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, business, or related field. Masters preferred.
- 5-7 years of experience in patient accounting or other revenue cycle leadership role.
- Previous management experience required
- Previous experience with Epic Systems, Resolute/Prelude
- Possess a strong knowledge of medical billing, CPT/ICD-10 codes, insurance adjudication/processing practices including Medicare/Medicaid rules & regulations & HIPAA Compliance.
Desired Skills
- Knowledge of the healthcare market to include relevant trends specific to contracted health plans, IL Medicaid, government payers and Workers Compensation agreements.
- Commitment to process improvement techniques,
- Excellent communication (written, verbal, and presentation)
- Experience in a complex shared service environment with multiple reporting relationships
- Strong time management skills with demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and handle multiple priorities
